This chronicle was formerly attributed to Conradus a Lichtenau prevost of Ursperg. Later researches have shown that the autor is Burchardus, the precedessor of Conradus, who took the Chronicon universale of Ekkehardus, abbot of Aura (extending to the year 1125) and continued it to the year 1229. cf. Ekkehardus' chronicle is not included here. |
This edition, begun by Holder-Egger, and continued after his death by von Simson, was put through the press, after the death of the latter by Bresslau. cf. also Einleitung. (p. xxxi-xxxviii). |
