500   $aCol nome di Ambrosiaster è conosciuto l'autore di una serie di commenti alle Epistole di s. Paolo, studiate in una versione anteriore a quella di s. Girolamo e falsamente attribuita a s. Ambrogio, vesc. di Milano, Alexander Souter in A study of Ambrosiaster ... Cambridge, Ingh., 1965 attribuisce la paternità di questi commenti e delle Quaestiones Veteris et Novi Testamenti (a torto attriubuite a s. Agostino) ad Hilarius. Da altri invece essi sono stati attribuiti ad un Isacco, ebreo convertito del IV sec.
